Powerstroke® is Coach Marty Gaal''s method for teaching effective competitive swimming. It is both a teaching method and a way of swimming. It is a concept developed to help athletes understand the integral relationship between good technique and the application of force when swimming. It is a drill that can be incorporated into daily practices as well as a stroke form that will help you torpedo your way to a PR finish.

Each 1 hour swim lesson would include:

• Feedback, stroke technique correction/improvements, and useful drills given during the lesson
• A swim technique video analysis with expert commentary burned to DVD and sent after the lesson
• A post-lesson email with detailed workouts, drill explanation, and workout structure for the person’s ability

 

Half-hour lessons would include:

• Quick checkup on swim form and drills to ensure proper technique is being used / corrected if not

• A swim technique video analysis with expert commentary burned to DVD and sent after the lesson
• A post-lesson email with detailed workouts, drill explanation and workout structure for the person’s ability

Marty Gaal, CSCS, of One Step Beyond Coaching, is a triathlon and swim coach who lives in Cary, NC.  Marty has been a competitive swimmer since 1981 and has been giving swim technique lessons to adults for ten years.  He and his wife Brianne host quarterly Powerstroke® triathlon swim clinics throughout the Southeastern US and run a US Masters swim team in Cary.
